UEFA announced its decision on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The 2024 UEFA Super Cup will be played in Warsaw on August 14.

Cezary Kulesza, the head of Poland’s Football Association (PZPN), said the choice of the National Stadium in Warsaw as the venue for the 2024 Super Cup “demonstrates the great trust” that UEFA has placed in Poland.

He added the PZPN was “delighted to be able to organise another final of a highly prestigious competition in Poland.”

The Super Cup match is traditionally held at the start of the season and contested between the winners of Europe’s top two club competitions, currently the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, according to officials.

UEFA noted that the National Stadium in Warsaw “was originally built for UEFA EURO 2012, during which it hosted all three of Poland's group games as well as a quarter-final [Portugal 1 Czech Republic 0] and semi-final [Italy 2 Germany 0].

The National Stadium in Warsaw also hosted the 2015 UEFA Europa League final between Spain’s Seville and Ukraine’s FK Dnipro, with Poland’s Grzegorz Krychowiak scoring one of the goals for Seville in a 3-2 win for the Spanish side, the PAP news agency reported.

Poland was also the host country for the 2017 UEFA Under-21 European Championships and the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, according to officials.

In addition, the northern city of Gdańsk hosted the 2021 UEFA Europa League final, with Spain’s Villarreal beating England’s Manchester United on penalties to clinch the trophy.

Meanwhile, the southwestern city of Wrocław has already been announced as the venue for the final of the 2025 UEFA Conference League, Europe’s third-tier club competition, news outlets reported.
