Football: Investment could make Polish league continental power: report

Poland is an "undervalued gem" and external investment in its league could help narrow the gap to its continental rivals, a Polish club owner has told the Reuters news agency.
Speaking on Friday at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London, Legia Warsaw president Dariusz Mioduski said that Polish “clubs are well-managed and run with a talent pool where private investment, like private equity, can take the clubs and the league to the next level."
"Poland is an undiscovered and undervalued gem in European football, Mioduski told Reuters.
“In terms of value, we have a competitive structure similar to the Premier League, even though we have no government sponsorship or oligarch investment," he added.
Polish top clubs have reached a point where they would welcome external investment both in the league and its clubs, according to Mioduski.
The agency notes that there has been steady improvement in the last five seasons, although Polish teams are still struggling to make a mark in European competitions.
The country's coefficient places Poland’s league 27th in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) standings, Reuters notes.
